GHE's gasket plate heat exchanger can be called plate and frame heat exchanger too.


Standard Design

The plate heat exchanger consists of a pack of corrugated metal plates. As the passage of two fluids, heat transfer will take place at these metal plates with portholes. The plate pack is assembled between a fixed frame plate and a movable pressure plate and compressed by tightening bolts. The plates are fitted with a gasket which seals the interpolate channel and directs the fluids into alternate channels. The number of plates is determined by the flow rate, physical properties of the fluids, pressure drop and temperature program.Connections are located in the frame plate. Connections will be in the frame or pressure plate, while both fluids make more than a single pass within the unit.


Working Principle

Channels are formed between the plates. Two media alternately flow through the ports at the corners. Heat is transferred through the plate between the channels with full counter-flow for maximum efficiency.The corrugations of the plates provide channels between the plates, supporting each plate against the adjacent plate and enhancing turbulent flow for efficient heat transfer.
